What a scan checks

The 17-point SEO checklist, on every product.

Every scan reads the live product and chooses fresh keywords from Google search data for your store's country: a main keyword, a secondary keyword and more for the H3 headings. Then it checks the whole page against them, and compares the description with the rest of the web for originality.

1Search result
  • The URL is exactly the main keyword
  • Meta title and description both hold the main keyword, within 60 and 160 characters
3Gallery images
  • Every image is square
  • Every image, in the gallery and the description, is a compressed WebP file
  • Every filename is unique and holds one keyword
  • Every image has alt text with one keyword, not the one in its filename
5Description images
  • The description has at least one image
  • Their filenames differ from the gallery's, each with one keyword
  • Their alt text differs from the gallery's, each with one keyword
7Content
  • The description is original, not copied from another site
2Title
  • The product title starts with the main keyword
4Headings
  • The H2 heading contains the secondary keyword
  • Each further keyword has its own H3 heading
  • No links inside headings
6PDF manuals
  • Manuals are linked in a Product Attachments section
  • Each PDF's filename is exactly its keyword
  • Each PDF's icon filename, alt text and link text are exactly its keyword

Apply changes automatically

The failing checks, fixed in your store.

The scan changes only what failed, straight in Shopify, then checks the page again. The report shows the new result, with a PDF to download.

  • Title, URL and meta tags rewritten around the main keyword: the title and meta title start with it. An old URL redirects to the new one.
  • Descriptions keep their text where they can: a missing H2 is added, failing headings are reworded around the keywords, and sections without an image get one. With fewer sections than keywords, or copied text, the description is rewritten in full.
  • Gallery images squared to 1000×1000, compressed to WebP, renamed and given alt text.
  • PDF manuals added as keyword-named copies under Product Attachments. Your own files stay as they are.

Safe to run

Changed your mind? Put it back.

A restore point is saved before the first change. If it can't be saved, the scan stops and nothing is written.

  • “Restore previous” puts the title, URL, meta title and description, description and gallery images back the way they were before the scan.
  • Anything you changed on the product since the scan stays as it is.
  • Restoring is free.

Scanner FAQ

Questions, answered.

Products, including drafts and archived ones, up to 20 in one scan. Collections, pages and blog posts aren't scanned.
Only what fails. That can be the title, the URL (the old one redirects to the new one), the meta title and description, the description's headings and sections (rewritten in full when it has too few sections or isn't original), gallery images (squared to 1000×1000, compressed to WebP, renamed, given alt text) and keyword-named copies of your PDF manuals under Product Attachments.
Prices, variants, options, vendor, product type, the product's status and the order of your gallery. Nothing is published. And only the products you picked are changed.
Yes. On the scan's report, Restore previous puts the title, URL, meta title and description, description and gallery images back the way they were before the scan. Anything you changed since is left as it is. Restoring is free.
A description under 40 words is left alone. A description is never rewritten in full when it holds an embedded video, or when the rewrite would lose a fact from your page. Gallery images smaller than 400 px, or used by another product too, aren't replaced. The report says what was left and why.
Each scan uses credits for what it actually cost, like uploads. An automatic change uses more than an audit, because it also rewrites and replaces. A scan that fails is free, and so is a restore. The scanner is on every plan. See pricing
